Middle Name Debate

Although we have successfully decided on a first name (Helen, after Richard's grandmother and my great grandmother Sara Helen), we have yet to decide on a middle name. But we do have lots of options. Below are some of the middle names we are considering as well as their meanings. Please feel free to give us your input on the subject or vote for your favorite in the comments field.

Abigail - The source of a father's joy.

Anabel - Graceful and beautiful.

Ansley - From the noble's pastureland.

Arabel - An answered prayer; beautiful altar.

Avery - One who is a wise ruler.

Isabel - My God is bountiful.

As you can tell, we (mostly Sara) are leaning towards something starting with a vowel. I'm not sure why, just seems to sound softer for some reason. If you have any other suggestions, we are open to hearing those as well. Christy, Joe, this is your time to shine...

I don't think you can go wrong with any of these. All are very pretty. Since you asked, my favorite is Ansley (Helen Ansley). Just sounds nice. I like Avery too. It is a very Sara-inspired name, I bet.

Another name I have always liked is Anne-Sophie. Or you could just do Sophie if you don't care for hyphenated names.

Love the flowers in the nursery. What a lucky little girl!

We like Helen Avery the best. Sounds like a name that you can make into a sweet flowing baby song. We love the nursery as well. The photos and flowers are really unique.

From the list, I think 'Helen Avery' rolls off the tongue best. Plus, it is a more 'modern' name that pairs well with the older, more traditional 'Helen'.

However, if it was my child and I was firmly committed to 'Helen', I would never pass on the opportunity to give her the middle name 'Wheels'.

Now that I think about it, its also hard to pass up:

Helen Handbasket
Helen Highwater
Helen Back
Helen Earth

Respectfully,

Mr. Ed

Ok, I'm sorry. I take it all back. I missed the best middle name of all! How's about:

Helen Ferno?

I will be sooo disappointed if this is not the choice. Do the right thing.

Best regards,

Your Skipper

I just read a book where a character was called Helen Earth and I didn't get it until Ed's comment... I think 'Earth' gets my vote... Helen Earth Shaheen... Almost as good as Chesty....
